Soundtrack of my life: Happy New Year

Welcome back!  Hopefully this finds you all with clear vision and your sights set on all the exciting things that the upcoming year will offer.  My creativity hasn’t fully kicked in this year yet, so I thought I would start it off with a tried and true format – the soundtrack of my life.  Last year saw a LOT of big things happen for me, and it was great starting this blog to share it all with you.  This year will pick up right where I left off: random ramblings and unmuted musings!  So grab your reading glasses, a nice warm mug of hot chocolate, and let’s put some lipstick on this pig, shall we?  Thank you, we shall.

With a new year, comes a new level of optimism.  So many resolutions and checklists that have overflowed for the last 5 years.  This year is the year.  Or maybe you’re a little more cynical.  Well, what better way to jumpstart an attitude adjustment than with the hope that goes hand-in-hand with a brand spanking new year?  I’ll list off my New Year’s playlist to help you get motivated for the next 12 months.  Readysetgo! Soundtrack of my life: Christmas cheer

With Thanksgiving, tryptophan comas, and Black Friday all in our rear-view mirror, it’s time to climb into the attic, drag out the Christmas decorations, put up the tree, and hang the stockings with care.

It’s a good time of year for a lot of good annoying music, so here’s another look into the mind of a maniac.  This time, as you may have guessed, my playlist will center around the birth of one 8 pound, 6 ounce baby Jesus. Continue reading

Soundtrack of my life: Home, sweet home

My wife and I are in the midst of purchasing a new home.  Along with all of those worries comes the stress of packing, cleaning, painting, and moving.  So I got to thinking about it, and what better way to improve all of those scenarios than with a rocking playlist to sing along to while we’re getting down and dirty?  A pretty nice playlist started forming in my head, and when I excitedly shared my thoughts with my wife, she had a couple more contributions that I hadn’t had time to come up with yet.  (Let’s not kid ourselves here, I eventually would’ve thought about them!)

Soundtrack of my life: Devil’s Night

With Halloween on the horizon, I think it’s about that time for another rundown through the playlists of my life.  This time: Halloween.  (Good guess.)  Before Halloween rolls around though, you have to get through the night before it.  Historically known as Devil’s Night.  I’ll open up and share with you the haunting playlist that I carefully put together so I’d have something to rock out to while small children attacked my doorbell looking for handfuls of candy.  Continue reading

Forming a one-man band – Take 2: Auditioning for myself

Strap in and get comfy, folks…I’ve got a lot to share with this one!  I had considered breaking this up into two separate posts, but thought otherwise.  So here it is, in its entirety.  Enjoy!

Following my last performance, I was a little wary about whether there would be any more to follow-up.  However, it wasn’t long before word got around and people were intrigued by what I had to offer.  After getting through the nerves of playing in front of people for the first time in years, I decided that it would be fun to make a little series out of this idea.  A concert mini-series of sorts.  A “tour,” if you will.  (Although I doubt that I’ll actually leave my premises.)  Let’s call it the Living Room Concert Series.  It has actually been pretty fun coming up with more ideas on how to wow my crowd.  This time though, I definitely outdid myself and may have even gone a bit overboard!  I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but honk honk…ya know what I mean??

I started out with the idea of at least maintaining the same production quality of my first attempt, and was really trying to blow it out of the water.  After months of planning, I started the process by making some e-flyers and sending them out to my new “fans” that had expressed interest in witnessing my greatness.  (I’m trying to be modest here, but sometimes it’s just so hard!)

Soundtrack of my life: Independance Day

This is the time of year I love going to the store.  At the end of every other aisle is a gigantic display of potently packed gunpowder in brightly colored paper wrapping.  Kind of sounds like Christmas, doesn’t it?  Well, it kind of is.  This is the time of year we get to celebrate the Brits giving us our freedom.  There may or may not be a little more to it than that, but this is my blog and so I’ll use my version of historic events.

Any who, I felt it was time to deliver another installment of the soundtrack of my life – holiday edition.  Through the rocket’s red glare and the bombs bursting in air, here is what I’ll be rocking over the duration of this weekend.

Indiana nights

Soundtrack of my life: Preparing for the zombie apocalypse

As you may have noticed, my infatuation with an impending zombie apocalypse has been renewed.  I stocked up my survival kit over the grueling winter months, I’ve noted the risk of zombie families, and I’ve schooled my wife on some of the basics.  Now, I’ve been plagued (WINK!) with the thought of what would be playing in the back of my mind while I’m doing what it takes to survive.

In addition, I thought it was about time I revisited the “Soundtrack Of My Life” post and give you all an updated glimpse into the ridiculous ramblings of my peanut brain.  So as the droning moan of hordes of dead-heads starts picking up, here’s my playlist to crank while combatting the mentally crippled creepers. Mmmmore
